Apostolic Christianity
    Some Background

The Bible makes it clear that "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever" (Hebrews 13:8).  The seminal Christianity of Christ Jesus and the Apostles is nearly unrecognizable from what is being practiced worldwide today.  The Christianity of the New Testament is just vaguely that of what was taught by Christ Jesus. For example, observing a different day of the week for the Sabbath. According to the Bible, the Jewish Sabbath was Saturday and not Sunday. Don't just take my word for it...do your own search of the Bible and you will discover that we are never instructed to observe Sunday as a weekly day of worship! Many verses, from Genesis to Revelation, instruct us to observe the seventh-day Sabbath (from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset). The word "Sunday" does not even appear in literal Bible translations. Would you like a hint where the idea of Sunday worship came from? O.k. - SUNday the "venerable day of the Sun". You really don't even need a Bible to solve this one. A common history book, except the sanitized history books in public, thus government run secular, schools will suffice. Christmas, Easter, and other blended pagan festivals made by man are never mentioned in the Bible...don't take my word for it, search in your own Bible or non-sanitized history books!  Jesus kept the same Festivals the Jewish community kept (John 7:2; 11:55).  Historians and scholars acknowledge that within a few centuries after Jesus' murder the original "Christianity", or better said, teachings of Christ Jesus as espoused by the Apostles dramatically changed. Though the Church claimed apostolic origin, pagan festivals, rituals, and mystery rituals slowly became part of the new Christianity being taught and practiced. Will Durant, a Roman Catholic historian purported Christianity did not destroy paganism; it adopted it!

Apostolic Christianity is suppose to be the teachings of Christ Jesus and the Apostles.  In other words the united law of Moses, the prophets, and the teachings of Christ Jesus. The standard orthodoxy of the Church formed just some forty days after the death of Christ (Meredith, 2011) is the original Church of God.  For me, Apostolic Christianity cannot be the first Christianity.  The first Christianity must have been the "Christianity" being lived by the Disciples that Christ Jesus first selected!  Apostolic Christianity is therefore second because it is the "teachings of Christ Jesus."  I mention this not to mince words but to lend support to the understanding of Christ living in us (more on that later). The New Testament very clearly indicates that God's true Church would be small and persecuted. That little flock (Luke 12:32) has never been completely silenced throughout the centuries but has been slowly perverted!  Oh yes, Satan the Devil has done exceedingly well at misleading billions over the course of time.  Let's never forget what the Apostle Paul was inspired to tell us. Paraphrasing, Satan the Devil is the literal god of this world and therefore this world's society!  A deceived individual has no idea he is deceived.  We MUST study our Holy Bible.  In Proverbs 9:10 we read: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, [A]nd the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding" (NKJV).  In Proverbs 1:7 that message is, I believe, meant to be taken a little more decisively. In Proverbs 1:7, we read: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction" (emphasis is mine).  Reflect on Matthew 7:13-14. Christ Jesus instructed His disciples: "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." Borrowing from Deuteronomy 30:19, "I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you both life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that you and your descendants may live..."
For thousands of years Satan has tried to lead us all away from the truth and unfortunately has been quite successful at it. One must learn and understand that the reason for massive religious apostasy is that this is Satan's world. According to Meredith (2011), "The vast majority of humans are - and always have been - Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Shintoists, atheists or agnostics." The principle reason for that is western civilization tries desparately to maintain a comfortable lifestyle without God. It's an attitude of if it ain't broke - then don't fix it!" Mankind has been deceived by a very clever deceiver (Revelation 12:9) and Satan is continuing to destroy our planet as well as the earths inhabitants!
The New Testament very clearly indicates that God's true Church would be small and persecuted. We have no Christianity at all if we do not believe and follow the teachings of Christ Jesus.  We have no chance of survival if more continue to refuse God's true Church. Under the direction of Satan mankind has tried and tried to remake Christianity.  In vain effort we've come up with philosophies such as humanism, materialism, socialism, communism and even capitalism! How we have tried and tried to create through human effort a prosperous and happy society on our earth that doesn't include our true God in heaven. Satan is so successful that most of human society unknowingly, but too often, follows any number of comfortable, self-satisfying, man-made philosophies to include the false belief of no God or Christ whatsoever.  "..If God is calling you and now opening your mind to His full Truth, then you have a responsibility to act upon that Truth" (Meredith, 2012). Mankind has been deceived by a very clever deceiver (Revelation 12:9) and Satan is continuing to destroy our planet as well as the earths inhabitants! Do you need more to motivate you into action? Reflect on James 4:17 "..to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin." Christ Jesus was quite clear when He warned, "Not everyone who says to Me,'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven" (Matthew 7:21). Imagine if you will - how all the prosperous, fat and happy people in this current life will suffer, after their physical life here ends and they are face-to-face with Christ Jesus saying to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!" (Matthew 7:21-23).
William Bennett posited we have become the kind of society that civilized countries used to send missionaries to!
